Samarachi Kodi

For those who lived in Goa would know the significance of this meal, in the good old days Goa was shut during the monsoons, houses were stacked prior to the monsoons with dry prawns, dry fish, sausages to last till the end of the monsoons.

Chilies too were stocked up on, the nonspicy Aldona chilies for color and taste. The small red onions tied in bunches in the kitchen, that perhaps had a smoked effect.

 

Doce Bhaji

Doce Bhaji or Doce Baji the lapsi from Goa, what every family should cook up for nursing mothers to nourish them and also put a smile on their face.

It's a unique dish that consists of Poppy seeds and Kashmiri Chillies. The pronunciation “Shakuti” is most probably derived from the word “Chacuti” which is Portuguese, although the Portuguese Chacuti is brownish in color as compared to the red Goan Xacuti.

This delicious bread pudding is a usual appearance at tea time gatherings, sometimes it makes a random appearance but whenever there is family you can either expect the Bread Pudding, Bibinca or Godshe to be around for Tea.
